I agree that NOTHING home made is going to lighten black hair. You are going to have to get something from the store to do it w/bleaching agents in it. Also, you'll need something to drab the red that's going to show thru. It's going to go thru red stages if you're thinking of doing blond streaking. So whatever you get, do NOT get "golden tones" - get "ash" tones. Honestly? If you can afford it, best to let a professional do it if you have something specif in mind.

If you have black hair, the only thing that will work for highlights is good old fashioned hair bleach like Quick Blue or something.

a few years back this was the big rave amoung teens. They used kool aid. what you do is add a small amount of water to make a paste. Then take strands of hair and put it on. It will not wash out untill after a few washings. You may want to go with lemonaid. to get a blond hightlight.

As a person with black hair as well, I've mixed he juice of one lemon with a third of a cup of plain yogurt. Leave it in your hair while you sit outside.

I had this beauty book that said that vinegar can highlight your hair... it didnt work for me, but it could work on your hair though.

If your hair is :

Pale Blonde...white vinegar

Deep Blonde...balsamic vinegar

Strawberry Blonde...raspberry vinegar

Dark Hair..red-wine vinegar

It didnt work for me like I said, but it made my hair really shiny.. I know it sounds weird
